Job title: STEAM Scholars (S2) Tutor in Harrisburg, PA at The Salvation Army Company: The Salvation Army Job description: Overview:Position: STEAM Scholars (S2) TutorDepartment: Youth and Family Education/21st Century Community Learning Center (21st CCLC) STEAM Scholars PASTEAM Academy Charter SchoolAvailability of Position: June 10, 2024Schedule: Part time plus, Monday-Thursday, 8:15-3:45p.m., June 24 -July 25, 2024Reporting Relationship: Directly: STEAM Scholars Site Director Indirectly: Youth and Family Education AdministratorSalary or Salary Grade: $15.50/hr, 73 NE Responsibilities:Position Overview: Tutors are responsible for creating a quality nurturing and educational program environment by demonstrating proficiency in the assigned curriculum and effectively implementing lesson plans developed by S2 Teachers. S2 Teachers will provide clear direction, support the tutors and observe academic instruction. The REA program will serve the PA STEAM Academy Charter School children. The Tutor will use the ARC, Heggerty, K-5 Math Teaching Resources, Great Minds, Engage NY Mathematics, and Eureka Mathematics curriculum in addition to other enrichment curriculums. Tutors must attend all trainings and be willing to learn to assist with other assigned curriculums and implement lessons. This position is part-time employment with various hours to meet program needs for both summer and school year after school programs. Qualifications:Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma with 2 years of work-related experience in the areas of tutoring, Elementary Education and or child care; Associates’ degree or Bachelor’s degree in progress preferred.
• Confidentiality in all areas mandatory
• Must possess excellent organizational and record keeping skills
• Knowledge of cultural flexibility, competency in working with multi-cultural participants and experience working with urban youth
• Good interpersonal communication skills, strong organizational and classroom management skills
• Valid CPR and First Aid Certification
• Valid Driver’s License
• As a Mandated Reporter, must provide proof of having completed training on recognizing and reporting child abuse meeting the training standards of PA Act 153.
• Meets the Child Protection Clearances required by PA Act 153 to include PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record Check through the Department of Human Services.
• Must have an understanding of and appreciation for the Mission of The Salvation Army
