The Collection Development Librarian maintains, preserves, and provides access to Rare Books & Special Collections. As manager of University Archives, the Collection Development Librarian provides access to Brenau’s rich history and creates a learning environment in the Archives for university students and personnel.Minimum Qualifications:
- MLIS from an ALA-accredited institution
- Knowledge of cataloging, including Resource Description and Access (RDA), Library of Congress Subject Headings, Library of Congress Classification System, and MARC 21 Format for Bibliographic Data
- Flexibility and initiative to work in a dynamic small library environment with a strong student-centric service orientation
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively, verbally, and in writing
- Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with faculty to monitor trends and issues in collection development
- Commitment to professional development and university service
- Experience with collection development policies and practices, budget management, and library licensing agreements
- Experience with library services platforms, such as OCLC’s WorldShare Management Services
- Knowledge of special collections librarianship and archival practices
- Support teaching and learning by providing authoritative information resources that support the university curricula for all programs on campus and online.
- Management of acquisitions process and oversight of budget funds for acquisitions
- Monitoring of licensing agreements for all library acquisitions
- Cataloging of library materials; serials management
- Service on library, university and/or community committees
- Provide accreditation support for new and developing programs
- Daily supervision of student employees
- Other duties as assigned
- Preserve, maintain, and provide access to the Fred Bentley Rare Book Room, the Watson Collection, and Special Collections, which features the recently named Graham Arader Natural History Art Research Room.
- Coordinate with faculty on the use of collections in curriculum
- Promote collections to students and community through presentations, tours and events
- Manage, maintain, and preserve the University Archives collection
- Provide access to Brenau’s rich history and create a learning environment in the Archives for students, university personnel, and community
