(English) (Spanish)Job Description:The Environmental, Health and Safety Specialist III will be an integral part of the North Carolina EHS Department. This role will support the EHS director and will be responsible for all EHS related topics supporting site expansion, management system governance, and oversight and management of projects and initiatives that drive EHS cultural excellence. This role is contingent upon obtaining all necessary regulatory approvals and the successful closing of a transaction which will result in establishing a new Airbus Affiliate in Kinston, NC (the “Kinston Affiliate”). The EHS II would be an employee of the Kinston Affiliate.Primary ResponsibilitiesSafety management 45%
- Support contractor safety management with program continuous improvement.
- Development and review of technical documents including policies, procedures, programs, and guidance documents.
- Lead hazard assessments by participating in work processes, evaluating procedures, and work steps.
- Implement corrective/preventative actions and continuous improvement activities as directed.
- Participate as a member of the core investigation team as required.
- Organize and lead industrial hygiene activities as required.
- Lead environmental, health, and safety compliance activities including, but not limited to, employee training, performing site inspections, record retention, internal/external audits.
- Maintain, audit and communicate management information systems which identify the location of hazardous materials in all facilities.
- Support all aspects of maintaining ISO:45001 and ISO:14001:2015 certification for the site.
- Participates in EHS site audits, inspections, and routine surveys including the developing and drafting of audit documentation, tracking corrective actions, and monitoring trends.
- Participates in the review of new processes, aircraft jigs, and other equipment to assure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Provide program support to all departments regarding regulatory compliance requirements and standard operating procedures.
- Assists in maintaining, updating, and coordinating training programs.
- Support EHS training efforts, vision, and strategy.
- Organize and coordinate recurring activities such as respiratory fit testing and annual audiometric testing.

- Bachelor Degree in industrial and/or Environmental, Health and Safety Engineering or related fields, or certification or an equivalent amount of experience is required.
- MS degree in industrial and/or Environmental, Health and Safety Engineering or related fields, in industrial and/or Environmental, Health and Safety Engineering or related fields
- 3+ years proven EHS experience required, experience in industrial production environment is strongly preferred.
- Proven ability to recognize, document, and eliminate hazards in the workplace.
- Strong incident investigation skills with multifunctional team leadership capability.
- Working knowledge of safety management systems, policy, and procedure development.
- Certifications: OSHA 511, OSHA 30, RCRA, ISO14001, ISO 45001, GSP, ASP, CSP or any other related certifications in EHS management, compliance or management systems
- Some domestic or international travel maybe required annually, not to exceed 10%
- Authorized to Work in the US
- Experience with environmental, health, and safety data software or database
- Position requires knowledge of federal, state and local environmental, health, and safety laws.
- Working knowledge of workers compensation and post incident medical management.
- Ability to understand and apply government regulations related to hazardous materials and wastes.
- Experience performing hazardous waste inspections and understanding processes which can produce hazardous wastes and hazardous air pollutants. • Incident investigations, RCA theory, and principles of injury case management.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in written form.
- Ability to maintain and ensure the confidential nature of the position.
- Fluency in written and spoken English.
- Must display excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Fluency in French, German, or Spanish
- Google Suite and excellent Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Preferred Technical Systems Proficiency
- Determine the new standard for all H&S measures as it relates to compliance regulations and internal Airbus values.
- Directly lead the continuous improvement activities to drive H&S efficiencies throughout the site.
- Conduct compliance and continuous improvement assessments on EHS maturity to Airbus standards and general compliance to regulatory measures. Evaluate the assessment against national standards and benchmark these against internal (within Airbus) and external markets (US competitors).
- Develop an action plan for the site to reach and continue to sustain EHS performance..
- Responsible for maintaining alignment and maximizing synergies with Airbus Europe and Airbus North America as it relates to applicable measures.
