Job description:
We are seeking an experienced UGC Rights & Claims Manager with a background in music rights and user-generated content (UGC) platforms. In this role, you will be responsible for monitoring, protecting, and leveraging our music assets across UGC platforms like YouTube, TikTok, and Meta, as well as enforcing compliance with each platform’s content policies. You will mentor and train junior staff, as well as work closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure our copyrights are respected, address infringement claims, and optimize monetization opportunities.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
Rights Management Policy and Compliance
Develop and implement internal policies and workflows to ensure compliant use of music assets on UGC platforms (YouTube Content ID, Meta Rights Manager, TikTok MediaMatch).
Oversee copyright enforcement workflows on UGC platforms.
Perform asset reviews to identify potential violations.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of platform-specific dispute resolution.
Proactively identify new and emerging platforms or technologies to expand music rights protection and monetization.
Claims Management and Dispute Resolution
Manage all issue resolutions.
Evaluate incoming infringement claims for validity; handle counter-claims and appeals on platforms’ disputes dashboards.
Collaborate with legal counsel on complex cases and escalate to litigation or settlement when necessary.
Partnership and Stakeholder Collaboration
Act as the primary liaison with UGC platform representatives.
Collaborate with other internal teams on all related topics: KYC, client trust score, etc.
Manage and train junior colleagues.
Data Analysis and Reporting
Utilize platform analytics to track performance of claimed or monetized content; provide insights on revenue, audience engagement, and infringement trends.
Compile regular reporting on compliance, claims resolutions, and emerging risk areas for senior management.
Qualifications & Experience:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business, Music Business, or a related field.
Industry Knowledge: Minimum 3–5 years of experience managing music rights and copyright claims (especially in the context of UGC platforms) and hands-on experience with Content ID systems. A Proven ability to evaluate infringement claims and identify problematic content.
Legal Mindset: Understanding of global copyright laws, DMCA, basic legal considerations and platform-specific guidelines for YouTube, TikTok, and Meta.
Data Analysis & Manipulation Skills: Competence in the use of a variety of tools to analyze and manipulate data, such as SQL, spreadsheets, basic scripting and AI.
