Your impact

As an AI Tutor, Chemistry Specialist, you will be instrumental in improving AI’s understanding of chemistry by reviewing expert-annotated chemical data using proprietary software. Your expertise in chemistry will help refine AI-generated content, ensuring accuracy in chemical concepts, equations, and applications. This role requires analytical thinking, adaptability, and a strong passion for AI in scientific education.

This is a contract remote position with variable time commitments. The services to be provided by the Contractor under this agreement are supplementary and not integral to the Handshake’s primary business operations. The Contractor’s services are distinct and separate from the core business activities of Handshake.

Your role

• Use proprietary software to analyze AI-generated chemistry content and provide expert feedback.

• Ensure high-quality chemical data curation to enhance AI model accuracy.

• Collaborate with technical teams to refine annotation tools and methodologies for chemistry-related tasks.

• Evaluate AI-generated and human responses across various chemistry disciplines, including organic, inorganic, physical, and analytical chemistry.

• Interpret, analyze, and review chemistry-related tasks based on evolving guidelines.

Your experience

• PhD in Chemistry or a closely related field (either in progress or completed within the last 10 years).

• Proficiency in chemical analysis, equations, and laboratory methodologies.

• Strong research background and experience in professional scientific writing.

• Excellent communication and organizational abilities.

• Ability to make independent evaluations based on limited data.

• Passion for AI, scientific education, and technology.

Bonus areas of expertise

• Research experience with published work in a reputable chemistry journal.

• Experience in AI-assisted education or tutoring.

• Teaching experience (professor, lecturer, or tutor in chemistry).

• Experience in technical writing, science communication, or professional scientific writing.

• Availability to work evenings and weekends as needed.

• Ability to quickly adapt to new skills and evolving requirements.

• Personal device must support Windows 10 or macOS Big Sur 11.0 or later.

• Reliable access to a smartphone.

Location & Work Expectations

• Fully remote position.

• Not hiring in Wyoming or Illinois at this time.

Compensation range

• $55/hr - $100/hr

For cash compensation, we set standard ranges for all U.S.-based roles based on function, level, and geographic location, benchmarked against similar stage growth companies. In order to be compliant with local legislation, as well as to provide greater transparency to candidates, we share salary ranges on all job postings regardless of desired hiring location. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including geographic location as well as candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed above.
