The Role ✨

We’re looking for a Director of Data to lead Stuart’s data function and bring our data strategy to life. You’ll own and operationalise a vision where anyone at Stuart can access insights within minutes, teams can experiment and deploy models within days, and data products become a revenue driver. You’ll lead a data organisation comprising data platform engineering, analytics engineering, data science, ML engineering, and analytics.

This is a high-impact high-visibility role. You’ll report to our VP of Product & Data, Alexis Fabre Ringborg, and work closely with leaders across Product, Engineering, Revenue, Operations and Finance.

What will I be doing?

  • Shape and deliver the data strategy:
  • Translate Stuart’s data vision into a clear strategy and roadmap
  • Drive executive alignment and company-wide buy-in for this roadmap
  • Lead delivery of the roadmap
  • Build a scalable, modern data organisation:
  • Lead the transition to an organisation that enables autonomy, consistency, and speed
  • Align platform, enablement, and domain-specific teams under a unified structure
  • Oversee high-quality, impactful delivery:
  • Supervise execution across data platform, analytics engineering, embedded analytics, ML, and data science
  • Ensure delivery is aligned with company OKRs, accelerates experimentation, and improves the quality and speed of data products
  • Promote responsible data practices: scalable, secure, and compliant
  • Drive Stuart’s data culture:
  • Boost data literacy and business metric awareness across the organisation
  • Operationalise self-serve capabilities and reduce reliance on central teams
  • Implement governance processes for data ownership, documentation, and quality
  • Represent the data function in company leadership forums
  • Lead and grow a high-performing team:
  • Manage a cross-disciplinary team with direct reports across all data specialties
  • Define staffing plans and recruit key roles to support growth
  • Coach, retain, and grow talent across levels and specialties
  • Establish rituals to enable cross-functional alignment, proactive opportunity identification, and data excellence
  • What do we need from you?

  • Experience leading multi-disciplinary data teams in fast-paced tech environments
  • Strong track record of setting and operationalising data strategies in fast-paced tech environments
  • Proven ability to lead change at company level
  • Outstanding English communication skills with the ability to align executives, demystify complex topics, and inspire teams
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to act as a unifying force across teams
  • A passion for scaling data capabilities and fostering data-driven decision-making across an organisation
  • Strong leadership and people management capabilities, with a passion for coaching and team development
  • A pragmatic mindset, capable of translating technical excellence into tangible business outcomes hands-on approach, ready to roll up your sleeves to make things happen when needed
