Position Summary: We are seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to head our Quality Excellence Team and Program. The leader will oversee quality monitoring, audits, and improvement initiatives across underwriting (UW) and underwriting support services (USS). This role ensures rigorous quality standards, fosters collaboration with field underwriting, and drives enhancements that support business objectives and regulatory compliance. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Quality Excellence Team, including Quality Specialists and Quality Analysts of varying levels, ensuring alignment of assignments based on complexity and expertise.
  • Oversee quality audits for underwriting and underwriting support services, identifying opportunities for process improvement and compliance adherence.
  • Monitor quality of execution and automated decision-making, providing validation and confidence in pass-through processes.
  • Collaborate closely with field underwriting leaders to address outliers, manage risks, and implement coaching and feedback loops.
  • Leverage first-party and third-party data sources including agency data to prioritize quality initiatives, enhance revenue source quality, and support book profitability.
  • Utilize advanced data analytics to assess quality trends, uncover root causes, and drive data-driven decision making across underwriting operations.
  • Develop and maintain quality performance monitoring, reporting, and enrichment activities.
  • Identify training and standards needs based on audit outcomes and field feedback to support continuous improvement.
  • Manage territory and portfolio-level quality management activities and UW referrals/documentation processes.
  • Foster a culture of accountability and shared ownership of quality outcomes across teams.

Experience:

  • Proven underwriting leadership experience, including quality underwriting decisions.
  • Strong ability to leverage and analyze both first-party and third-party data to inform quality strategies and operational improvements.
  • Deep understanding of underwriting processes, quality audit methodologies, and automated decision-making systems.
  • Experience working with diverse data sources, data integration, and advanced analytics to drive actionable insights.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including field underwriting.
  • Experience with training development and standards implementation.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to accuracy, compliance, and operational excellence.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Data Analytics, Risk Management, or a related field preferred.

Qualifications

  • Proven math and analytical skills, as normally acquired through the pursuit of a bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Actuarial Science or related field
  • Minimum 5 years of progressively more responsible experience. BL experience preferred
  • Advanced analytical, problem solving, research, and project management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to influence management
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills required to establish and build effective relationships within and outside the organization
