As the Director, Data and Science (Analytic Solutions - Epidemiology and Biostatistics Study Design) at Verana Health, you'll transform healthcare through data-driven insights. This important role demands someone who can translate intricate clinical challenges into pioneering study designs that push the boundaries of medical research.

You'll lead collaborations with life science partners, applying your expertise to create methodologies that extract invaluable insights from complex datasets. Your synthesis of epidemiological and biostatistical approaches will help uncover patterns that lead to breakthrough treatments and improved health outcomes.

You'll foster a culture of innovation and excellence within your team, mentoring the next generation of healthcare data scientists. Your strategic vision and technical knowledge will support Verana Health's mission to improve healthcare through data-enabled strategies. By bridging the gap between complex clinical questions and useful insights, you'll help advance medical research, ultimately improving patient lives.

You will report to the Sr. Director of Data and Science (Analytic Solutions). This is a remote role.

Employees located within 50 miles from one of our offices (San Francisco, Knoxville, New York) are asked to maintain a hybrid work schedule.

What you get to do:

  • Study Design Leadership: Guide the development of robust epidemiological and biostatistical study designs for critical commercial retrospective clinical studies, including protocols, methodologies, and statistical analysis plans.

  • Team Management: Lead a team of 5 ICs, promoting their growth and ensuring high-quality output in study design and analysis.

  • Client Collaboration: Engage with life science customers to align project goals with Verana's data and analytic capabilities while serving as an important Data and Science team member.

  • Cross-functional integration: Work with teams across the organization to translate clinical questions into appropriate study designs and data analytics requirements.

  • Quality Assurance: Ensure the scientific rigor and validity of your team's study deliverables and methodologies.

Your Qualifications:

  • Master's or Doctorate in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, or a related field

  • 7+ years of experience in epidemiological and biostatistical study design within life sciences, pharmaceutical, or biotechnology sectors

  • 3+ years of experience leading research study teams

  • Experience with advanced epidemiological and biostatistical principles and their application in healthcare research

  • Experience in team resource allocation and project management

  • Client-facing skills with expertise in building relationships in the healthcare analytics space

  • Proficiency in statistical software (e.g., R, SAS, or STATA) and familiarity with SQL and Python

  • Solid experience working with clinical datasets and coding systems

National Pay Range

$200,000—$240,000 USD

Pay ranges may vary for market conditions, location, and experience.
