Master Python AI Developer (Remote) Clearance Required: Active Federal Security Clearance (DHS preferred) Location: Remote (U.S. Based) Type: Full-Time | Long-Term Contract or Direct Hire Ellumen is seeking a Master-level Python AI Developer to join our remote engineering team, focusing on cutting-edge AI/ML applications, backend service design, and full-stack development. This role requires deep expertise in Python and AI/ML, especially in RAG-based (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) systems, and experience deploying scalable microservices in cloud-native environments. If you're a hands-on engineer who thrives in high-impact, production-grade environments, this is your opportunity to shape intelligent solutions that power real-world enterprise applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop & Deploy AI Systems: Design and implement RAG-based chatbots, intelligent summarizers, and classification tools using LangChain, GPT-4, ChromaDB, Pinecone, and HuggingFace.
  • Build Production-Grade Python Microservices: Lead development of APIs and microservices using FastAPI, Flask, or Django, with deep performance optimization.
  • Full Stack & Front-End Engineering: Deliver modern, responsive frontends using React.js, Redux, and TypeScript, and migrate legacy UI stacks.
  • Cloud-Native Engineering: Build, deploy, and scale workloads in Azure, AWS, or GCP using Kubernetes, Docker, and Terraform.
  • Data Engineering & AIOps: Implement real-time data pipelines (Prometheus, ELK Stack), and anomaly detection systems integrated with MLflow, Airflow, and Datadog.
  • Search & Document Intelligence: Design ingestion pipelines and search/retrieval systems using ElasticSearch, Coveo, and vector databases.
  • AI/ML Pipeline Development: Train and deploy models for NLP, anomaly detection, summarization, and classification using TensorFlow, PyTorch, and scikit-learn.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of intimate hands-on coding experience with Python (expert-level, 9 out of 10)
  • Strong background in AI/ML and LLM implementation
  • Demonstrated experience with RAG architecture, LangChain, and OpenAI APIs
  • Familiarity with Azure AI services, including deployment of AI workloads
  • Proven success in developing scalable microservices and APIs (REST/GraphQL)
  • Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to pass a live Python coding challenge
  • Federal clearance (active) — DHS experience is highly preferred
  • BA/BS in Computer Science or related field and 10 years’ relevant experience. Experience may be substituted for education.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Flask, Postgres, Alembic, and asyncio
  • Advanced understanding of DevOps principles, especially in MLOps (CI/CD, containerization)
  • Experience with PHP (Zend, Symfony, Laravel) and backend performance optimization

Certification in Data Science (e.g., MIT, Coursera)

  • Tech Stack Snapshot

Languages: Python, Go, Java (Spring Boot), JavaScript/TypeScript, PHP, Node.js Frameworks: Flask, FastAPI, Django, React, Redux AI/ML: GPT-4, LangChain, HuggingFace, TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn Cloud: Azure (preferred), AWS, GCP DevOps: Kubernetes, Docker, Jenkins, Terraform, Airflow, MLflow Databases: Postgres, Pinecone, ChromaDB, ElasticSearch Tooling: OpenAI APIs, Azure AI, Prometheus, ELK Stack, Datadog Here is your interview process

  • Initial Verbal Interview – Focus on technical depth and communication
  • Live Python Coding Challenge – Emphasis on problem-solving and RAG/AI knowledge
  • Final Round – Architecture discussion and team fit
