Job Summary The Yoga Instructor (CYI) will facilitate both group and individual yoga sessions for patients who are on a continuum of health and wellness. YT may also facilitate yoga sessions for parents and caregivers and/or staff and faculty. Job Responsibilities 1. Responsible for the facilitation of yoga and yoga-based practices to patients on a continuum of age, health and wellness. 2. Evaluates patients to determine appropriateness of services; establishes long and short term goals with patient, provider, and caregiver involvement; and develops an individualized treatment plan incorporating patient and caregiver needs. Employs the tools and practice of yoga to help improve a patients overall health and wellbeing through relaxation and stress-reduction practices. 3. Consults with the patient's specialty and/or primary care providers, as necessary. 4. Facilitates treatment yoga sessions, utilizing an evidence-based approach, to meet each patient's specific needs. and to achieve care plan goals. Observes progress and/or changes in patient's condition and modifies plan session accordingly. Explains the treatment to patients and caregivers, and responds to their questions and concerns. 5. Evaluates treatment outcomes and adjust the care plan as necessary to further promote, restore, or maintain health. Assesses patient's progress through questioning and examination as well as reviewing other provider notes and treatment plans, if necessary. 6. Maintains detailed and complete records of session documentation in electronic medical record. Documents the outcome of the session including patient's evaluation results, objective status, progress towards goals, treatment plan, and recommendations in compliance with documentation requirements of the hospital and accrediting associations. 7. Educates patients and caregivers on treatment session goals and therapy plan; instructs patients and caregivers on activities to follow while in hospital or at home; documents instruction; and evaluates ongoing compliance and understanding. 8. Maintains the administrative functions of individual caseload, including scheduling patients for treatment, entering daily charges (when indicated), and submitting timely documentation to appropriate parties. 9. Actively engages in building utilization of the Integrative Health Program's services. 10. Conducts formal and informal educational programs for hospital staff, students and community. Develops and maintains a portfolio of educational materials for clinicians and patients, using print and non-print media. 11. Conducts visits/classes outside of the hospital setting including telehealth visits, virtual classes, or in the community, or in patient homes as needed. 12. Receives continuing education, reads professional publications, and keeps up-to-date on industry practices and regulations. 13. Participates in departmental in-service training programs to enhance professional development. 14. Collaborates with physicians, third-party payors, relevant healthcare providers and community stakeholders. 15. Adheres to local, state and federal laws, regulations and statutes. 16. Adheres to program guidelines. Maintains and follows standard quality, safety, environmental and infection control policies and procedures. 17. Sets-up and breaks down rooms with necessary equipment and supplies. 18. Manages the inventory of supplies and equipment. 19. Adheres to the department productivity standards. 20. Participates in research activities as required. Job Responsibilities (Continued) Job Responsibilities (Continued) Required Licenses, Certifications, Registrations Registered Yoga Teacher 500 (RYT 500) from the Yoga Alliance Registered Children's Yoga Teacher (RCYT) OR Registered Prenatal Yoga Teacher from the Yoga Alliance Required Education and Experience Required Education: High School Diploma or GED. Preferred Education, Experience & Cert/Lic Preferred Education: Bachelor's degree Preferred Experience:

  • At least one (1) year of experience working with pediatric clients.
  • At least one (1) year working within a healthcare delivery system.
  • Trauma-informed/trauma-sensitive yoga training

Preferred Licenses/certificates/registrations:

  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) issued through on organization that requires a hands-on instructor lead psychomotor skills verification (ex. American Heart Association or Red Cross).
  • Registered Prenatal Yoga Teacher from the Yoga Alliance

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, including teamwork, facilitation and negotiation.
  • Outstanding communication skills. Ability to clearly communicate with patients, families and providers. Strong writing skills.
  • Ability to represent the Center/Program within and beyond institution.
  • Ability to handle confidential materials and matters.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to function efficiently and professionally with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to quickly learn new procedures.
