Remote Dermatopathology Medical Transcriptionist Opportunity

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for transcribing voice recordings of medical consultations and procedures, editing speech recognition transcripts, formatting transcription reports, and entering medical reports into electronic health record systems. If you have a strong skillset in medical transcription, excellent communication and organizational skills, and a passion for delivering high-quality patient care, we encourage you to apply.

Key Responsibilities

• Listen to recorded dictation of physicians and other healthcare professionals and transcribe audio files with high accuracy
• Edit and correct medical dictation performed by speech recognition software
• Convert transcribed diagnostic test results, procedures, and consultation notes into applicable report formats
• Ensure uncompromised patient care by transcribing quickly and accurately, as well as performing thorough editing
• Type out full forms of medical abbreviations and acronyms, as well as formal versions of medical jargon
• Identify and follow up on inconsistencies, errors, and missing information within transcribed reports
• Submit transcriptions to healthcare professionals for approval in a timely manner
• Perform additional tasks such as following up and revising patient history, as well as entering medical reports into electronic health records systems
• Protect patient confidentiality and adhere to legal requirements

Requirements and Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required
• 2-3 years of experience as a medical transcriptionist required, with dermatology/dermatopathology specific transcription preferred
• Medical transcriptionist or healthcare documentation specialist certification preferred
• Strong understanding of medical terminology and strong typing/keying skills with high accuracy rate
• Excellent communication and organizational skills, self-motivated and able to work independently
