Senior iOS Engineer, Core Foundation

The Community You Will Join: Our team, Core Foundation, is responsible for accelerating and simplifying the engineering process of building products for the end-to-end guest and host journey on Airbnb. We create the libraries that empower product engineers to build high quality and performant experiences. The Core Foundation engineers act as the bridge between Airbnbs Product, Data, and Infrastructure teams. We work closely with other engineers from product teams, by understanding their productivity pain points and how to resolve them in a scalable, simple and flexible way. We work with Data to empower Airbnb product engineers to get an understanding of how their surfaces are being used. The Difference You Will Make: As a Senior iOS leader, you will be partnering with Product, Data, and Client Infrastructure teams and utilize your extensive knowledge of iOS to lead and execute on building the paved path for Airbnb’s current and future product needs. Your primary objective will be to elevate the performance and quality across all facets of our application for every guest and host. A Typical Day: As a Senior iOS Engineer on Core Foundation, you will:

• Collaborate with partner teams and product engineers to design and develop high quality APIs that compliment product engineers’ day to day flows.
• Be an active contributor to your projects by creating high quality pull requests and reviewing other’s pull requests.
• Build thorough tests to ensure the reliability and performance of the software you create.
• Create architecture design documents for new projects and review other’s design documents.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices in Web development and performance engineering.

Your Expertise : We’re looking for a Senior iOS Software Engineer with passion for making the client experience performant through foundational paved path, with the following skill sets, experience, and passions:

• Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree, preferably in CS, or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years industry experience.
• Fluency in Swift and experience with SwiftUI or other declarative UI building frameworks.
• Experience building codegen tools, codemods, and lint rules.
• Deep understanding of iOS core libraries.
• Expertise of client and environmental performance considerations.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work in a cross-functional team which touches many parts of core systems at Airbnb.

Your Location: This position is US - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed to with your manager. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.
