User Experience Lead

Remote, USA Full-time Posted 2026-06-17

Job Description:

*This is a remote role, but must be willing to work EST or CST business hours*

At Merkle, we don’t just design interfaces — we design experiences that matter. As a User Experience Lead, you’ll bring bold ideas to life, turning complex challenges into intuitive, human-centered solutions. You’ll have the chance to shape high-impact work with a leader in the home energy solutions market while also flexing your skills across a diverse mix of clients and industries. This is your opportunity to collaborate with smart, passionate teams, push your craft forward, and create digital products and services people love to use every day.

Responsibilities

  • You will support the design of end-to-end digital experiences across mobile, commerce, and web products in partnership with project leads

  • You will create user-centered solutions that balance customer needs with measurable business outcomes

  • Apply design thinking at both the interaction and journey level to ensure clarity and consistency

  • Conduct usability testing, synthesize findings, and translate insights into actionable improvements

  • Leverage consumer behavior, research, and data to inform design decisions

  • Stay current with design and technology trends and bring fresh ideas into client work

  • Communicate design rationale effectively to stakeholders through presentations and storytelling

  • Deliver core design artifacts, including journey maps, service blueprints, user flows, competitive analysis, frameworks/specifications, and polished Figma-based wireframes, mockups, and prototypes

  • Contribute to best-in-class commerce design, from shopping and checkout to account management and post-purchase experiences

Must Haves

  • 5+ years of UX design experience with a portfolio demonstrating design thinking, problem-solving, and strong visual craft (layout, typography, color, accessibility) across desktop and mobile, including complex systems and end-to-end product design

  • Bachelor’s degree in Design, HCI, Psychology, or related field — or equivalent professional experience is welcome

  • Deep understanding of user-centered design principles and digital best practices (responsive web, mobile, native apps)

  • Familiarity with web technologies (HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript) to collaborate effectively with developers

  • Proficiency with modern UX tools such as Figma (wireframes, prototypes, design systems) and Adobe Creative Suite for supporting visual design needs

  • Strong visual and interaction design skills, along with excellent communication and storytelling abilities

  • Hands-on experience with usability testing, research synthesis, journey mapping, service blueprints, user flows, and accessibility standards (WCAG)

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience in an agency, design consultancy, or product design studio

  • Curiosity about how AI can enhance design, with applied examples a plus

  • Strong background in ecommerce (B2B and B2C) — highly desirable

  • Experience designing for diverse user personas and customer types

  • Familiarity with atomic design methodology, design systems, and production design for platforms such as Adobe Experience Manager (AEM)

  • Experience supporting pitch work, contributing design concepts and storytelling for new business opportunities
