As we continue to grow and expand our efforts, we are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Archivist to join our team in a part-time hybrid role, working remotely with occasional on-site visits. About the Role: Hybrid Remote Archivist This part-time hybrid position as a Remote Archivist offers a unique opportunity for a professional with a passion for archival management and digital preservation to contribute to the upkeep and curation of our extensive collections. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in archival practices, possess a keen eye for detail, and be proficient in the use of digital archiving systems. The role involves cataloging, preserving, and curating items within our collections, ensuring that both physical and digital assets are maintained with the highest standards of care and are easily accessible for research and exhibition purposes. Key Responsibilities:

  • Cataloging and Organization: Catalog, organize, and maintain both physical and digital collections with precision, including artifacts, antiques, art pieces, and digital media.
  • Preservation Techniques: Implement preservation techniques to safeguard the quality and longevity of items, ensuring the integrity of sensitive materials is upheld.
  • Digital Archiving: Utilize digital archiving systems for the cataloging, storing, and management of digital assets, ensuring all files are secure, accessible, and adequately tagged for efficient retrieval.
  • Record Keeping: Develop and maintain accurate records and metadata for each item within the collection to facilitate ease of access and research.
  • On-Site Assessments: Occasionally perform on-site assessments to evaluate the condition and storage of physical collections, updating inventory accordingly and ensuring items are securely housed.
  • Compliance and Standards: Adhere to legal, regulatory, and archival standards and practices, ensuring that all work is conducted in accordance with best practices in preservation, conservation, and metadata standards.
  • Research Support: Support research efforts by providing organized access to the collection and curating items for exhibitions or presentations as needed, contributing to the dissemination of knowledge and appreciation of our cultural heritage.

Essential Qualifications: To be considered for this role, candidates should possess the following essential qualifications:

  • Education: A Bachelor's degree in Archival Studies, Library Science, History, or a related field, providing a solid foundation in archival principles and practices.
  • Experience: A minimum of 2 years of experience in archival or collections management, preferably with a focus on antiques, art, or digital assets, demonstrating a deep understanding of archival management and preservation techniques.
  • Digital Proficiency: Proficiency in utilizing digital archiving software and tools, along with strong computer and data management skills, essential for the effective management of digital collections.
  • Organizational Skills: Exceptional organizational abilities, paired with a keen attention to detail, ensuring that all aspects of the collection are meticulously maintained and easily accessible.
  • Preservation and Metadata Knowledge: Familiarity with best practices in preservation, conservation, and metadata standards, crucial for the long-term integrity and accessibility of the collections.
  • Independence and Problem-Solving: Capability to work independently while managing time effectively, along with strong problem-solving skills, allowing for the efficient resolution of challenges that may arise in the management of the collections.

Preferred Qualifications: While not required, the following qualifications are highly desirable:

  • Certification: Certification in Archival Studies or Records Management, such as the Certified Archivist designation, demonstrating a commitment to professional excellence in archival management.
