Principal Ride Project Engineer - Unlock the Magic of Disney Imagineering

Job Overview:

Join the Walt Disney Imagineering team as a Principal Ride Project Engineer, where you will lead the design, development, and delivery of innovative ride systems that bring Disney's magical stories to life. As a key member of our Ride Engineering team, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to create one-of-a-kind experiences that inspire and delight millions of people worldwide.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and development of ride systems from concept to installation, ensuring timely and budget-friendly delivery
  • Collaborate with creative directors, operating and maintenance partners, and technical teams to develop requirements and integrate ride systems
  • Proactively identify and mitigate risks, acquire resources, and define scope and requirements for ride team assignments
  • Implement the Ride Engineering Standard of Practice, ensuring high-quality engineering results and compliance with Disney standards, industry standards, and local regulations
  • Manage vendor design, fabrication, and commissioning activities, and lead site installation and testing work
  • Develop project delivery strategies, technical specifications, scope documents, budgets, schedules, and staffing plans

Requirements:

  • 7+ years of professional engineering experience, including responsibility for engineering design, analysis, production, installation, and test
  • Experience leading technical teams and managing vendors and contracts
  • Demonstrated project management and vendor management skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of individuals within a project team and the company
  • Hands-on experience with equipment mockups, prototypes, fabrication, assembly, installation, and testing
  • Working knowledge of systems engineering, mechanical engineering, electronic control systems, and control systems software
  • Bachelor's degree in an applicable engineering field from an accredited university

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous amusement industry experience, with an emphasis on safety-related ride systems
  • Knowledge of relevant Ride Engineering and industry standards
  • Familiarity with new/emerging technology and applications within the amusement industry
  • Professional Engineering license
